Siemens—Booth E-4933
For the job shop, the new Sinumerik
828D numerical control will be presented for the first time in the U.S.
Suitable for midrange machine tools,
the control is designed to address the
needs of complex milling and turning
machines in the job shop segment, says
Siemens.
It combines CNC, PLC, operator
panel, and axis control for six
CNC measurement circuits in a
single panel.
It is capable of full graphical, high-level language command and supports ISO programming.
Programming time can be
further reduced for small-batch
production with the use of the Shop-Mill and Shop Turn graphical workstep
programming system, while high-level
language programming can be used in
conjunction with programGuide to reduce programming times significantly
for large-scale serial production.

The milling cell manufactures solid
parts by using a laser to solidify pow-derlike materials, layer by layer. This
process provides benefits in applications for industries such as aerospace,
medical, dental, and moldmaking, as
the technology removes part complexity as a driver of cost.
Other equipment on display will
include EDMs, milling machines, and
automation technology.

Okuma—Booth
S-8500
The new GENOS M460-VE vertical machining center and three automated manufacturing cells can be
seen at the show. All machines on
display will be equipped with peripheral equipment, software, and accessories from members of Partners in
THINC.
This machining center has a double column structure, and total travel
measures 30 in./18.11 in./18.11 in.
(X/Y/Z) with a rapid traverse rate
of 1,574 IPM. Standard features
include a 40-taper, 12,000-RPM
spindle with a 30/25-HP VAC liquid-cooled integral motor and a 32-posi-
tion ATC. Thermal deformation is
minimized by the company’s TAS-C/TAS-S compensation system.
The Okuma THINC control will
be featured in the THINC area of the
booth, showcasing MacMan-Net,
Advanced
OneTouch,
and other
software and
applications.
